Starbucks launch vegan whipped cream

As the weather changed in a matter of days and we started pulling our jumpers out of hibernation, it seemed like Starbucks timed the return of their eagerly awaited autumn drink perfectly – their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. This year though, vegan Starbucks fans in the UK have an extra special treat to enjoy with theirs – vegan whipped cream.

Coined Pumpkin Spice Latte season, the day the hot drink gets added to the menu has become almost as famous as the coffee chain’s festive red cups. In 2018 Starbucks switched the recipe of their autumn favourite and dropped the dairy, to the delight of vegan and lactose-intolerant fans everywhere, and this year not only will you be able to enjoy the full PSL experience, you’ll also be able to order a Pumpkin Spice Cookie – a match made in coffee break heaven.

Created using a blend of Starbucks Espresso Roast, pumpkin pie flavoured sauce and steamed milk, vegans can now enjoy it topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices – cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. The Pumpkin Spice Latte has been around since 2003, so quite rightly deserves its stature as the OG of warm beverages to enjoy as you wrap up warm, kick up those fallen leaves, light a fire… ok maybe that’s a bit too much. But it’s a fantastic step forward for the second biggest coffee chain in the UK.

Feeling peckish while you’re there? Here are the other vegan options they currently offer:

  • Five Grain Oatmeal (GF)
  • Overnight Chocolate & Coconut Oats
  • Vegan All Day Breakfast Burrito
  • Vegan Beetroot Wrap
  • Vegan Smoky Jackfruit and Grains
  • Vegan Spiced Protein Bowl
  • Vegan Pistachio Bar
  • Vegan Chocolate and Raspberry Mini Loaf

Finally, for those taking away and working from home, Starbucks have created virtual backgrounds for you to download, so you can pretend to be working from some of their most famous locations in the world – including their very first store in Seattle.
