Take 5: Vegan Advent Calendars

Christmas is fast approaching – how is it the middle of November already! Time to get that advent calendar organised and ready to go. With options available online, in supermarkets and at your local health food store, we’ve put together our top five favourites, whether you’re keeping it classic with chocolate, looking for something a bit different this year, or need a gluten free option.

Dark chocolate

There’s nothing quite like squares of really good quality dark chocolate (especially when you top them with peanut butter). Montezuma’s Organic & Vegan Dark Chocolate Advent Calendar (£9.99) is bursting with 73% dark chocolate, and is gluten and soya free.

‘Milk’ chocolate

We love creamy ‘milk’ chocolate, and our annual favourite has to be the Moo Free Organic Dairy Free Advent Calendar (£4.75). Ideal for those avoiding gluten, soya, dairy and wheat. More of a fan of white chocolate? Try this Vantastic Foods White Chocolate Advent Calendar (£8.46), also gluten free. Make sure you order it soon though, as it’s only available online and you won’t find it in the UK.

Sugar and spice

We love Candy Kittens, Less Sprouts More Sweets (£12) way of thinking! An alternative to the traditional chocolate countdown, the daily vegan sweets are also gluten free.

For those not in the mood for sugar, Superdrug have brought out Bloom Collection, 12 Days of Perfume Advent Calendar (£12). Men can also pick up their own beauty treat with Bristle and Smith’s Mens 12 Days Advent Calendar (£9). Both calendars are vegan and cruelty free.

Don’t forget to check supermarket Free From aisles, your local health food store and Holland & Barrett for plenty more vegan advent calendars – or buy a fabric calendar to re-use each year, filled with different treats every day.
